Welcome!

My name is George Corley, and I am teaching 2nd grade at Joanna-Woodson Elementary School this year.

This is my seventh year teaching and my fifth year at Joanna-Woodson.  I previously taught 2nd grade for two years at Clinton Elementary School and one year at Joanna-Woodson.           I taught 4th-grade ELA and Social Studies for the past three years.

I am excited to be back home in 2nd grade!  I am confident that your students and I will learn and accomplish great things this school year!

I have always lived in Clinton.  I attended Clinton Elementary, Bell Street Middle School, and Clinton High School (class of 2001).  I am a 2005 graduate of Erskine College, where I majored in Business Administration / Accounting.  In 2011, I completed Converse College's Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program in Elementary Education.

My mom, Teresa Corley, taught thirty-three years, thirty-two of those being in Joanna.     She retired in June, 2013.  Thankfully, Mom is still a common sight at Joanna-Woodson and in my classroom.  Her guidance and support are of utmost importance in my teaching career.

My dad, Gary Corley, is in his thirty-sixth year of teaching.  He taught at Clinton High for many years.  Dad now teaches at Clinton Middle School.  He has returned to the old Clinton High building where his teaching career began.  Dad also coaches football at Clinton Middle.

I have a younger sister, Cali, who is also a teacher.  This is her seventh year teaching 4K at Gray Court-Owings Elementary School.     Cali got married in June, 2014.  She and her husband, Ryan, live in Simpsonville.  Cali and Ryan have one son, Will, who was born in December, 2016.

My older brother, Michael, and his wife, Heather, live in Mauldin.  Michael is an environmental lawyer.  Michael and Heather have one daughter, Ellis, who was born in May, 2014.

Ellis and Will add much joy and laughter to my life.  I love being their Uncle George!
